This role involves designing, developing, and implementing AI/ML algorithms that enhance our medical devices and improve patient outcomes. The AI and Machine Learning Software Engineer works alongside cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions while adhering to regulatory standards. Workplace Policy Hybrid from Woodbury, MN What To Expect (Essential Job Responsibilities) Develop and Implement AI/ML Models: design and develop machine learning algorithms that analyze medical data (e.g., images, biosignals) to support diagnostic and predictive capabilities. Data Management: collect, preprocess, and analyze large biomedical datasets, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA). Algorithm Optimization: optimize existing machine learning models for performance, accuracy, and efficiency; conduct testing and validation according to regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485). Collaboration: work closely with clinical and research teams to understand user needs and translate them into technical specifications for AI solutions. Integration: collaborate with software engineers to integrate AI/ML models into existing software frameworks and ensure seamless operation of medical device systems. Documentation: prepare technical documentation such as design specifications, testing protocols, and user manuals in compliance with medical device regulations. Stay Updated: keep updated on the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies, best practices, and regulatory changes pertinent to the medical device industry. Support and Maintenance: provide ongoing support and enhancements for deployed models and algorithms based on user feedback and performance monitoring. What Is Required (Qualifications) Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, Ph.D. is preferred. 3+ years of experience in software development with a focus on AI/ML applications, preferably in the medical device or healthcare sector. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and Java. Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, scikit-learn). Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Tableau). Understanding of data preprocessing techniques and feature engineering. Knowledge of algorithms and techniques for supervised and unsupervised learning. Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for model deployment, management is a plus. Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO standards (e.g., ISO 13485), and compliance requirements applicable to medical devices. Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.
