DESCRIPTION
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Principal Security Specialist Solutions Architect for our Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) Customer Engineering Program. The ideal candidate will have experience in IT security practices, working in regulated industries or in security and compliance aware environments, such as penetration testing, application security assessment, reverse engineering, compliance audits, cryptography, network protection, and be interested in helping customers embrace cloud technologies.
As a member of the APJ team, you will work with Prototyping Engineers, Specialist Solutions Architects, AWS Solution Builders and AWS’ senior leadership including the Office of the CTO and CISO, AWS partners, and customers around the APJ to accelerate our customers' cloud transformation and foster Security Best Practices.
You will engage in a wide range of activities around your domain of expertise, providing technical advice to customers, helping the internal and external communities, presenting and evangelizing AWS Services, highlighting success stories and use cases, and providing a preferred path between AWS service teams and customers.

This role will focus on lending depth to the security and compliance aspects of AWS’ innovative use cases, and on helping our customers and partners build innovative and secure Solutions and Businesses from the IT department to the boardroom.
As a Principal Security Specialist Solutions Architect (SA), you will help customers articulate requirements, and select the technologies that will support their business requirements. You will work closely with the other Prototyping Engineers and Specialist SAs on next generation solutions leveraging the Internet of Things (IoT), Analytics, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Modern Applications Development, Artificial Reality/Virtual Reality, Blockchain, Robotics to enable large-scale customer use cases and foster the adoption of AWS. You will interact with other SAs, providing guidance on their customer engagements by developing white papers, blogs, reference implementations, and presentations to enable customers and 3rd parties to fully leverage AWS services. You will also create field enablement materials for the broader Prototyping population, the security and emerging technologies communities, and AWS senior leadership, to help them understand how AWS is thinking about the future of technologies, and what it would look like to create those architectures.
Candidates have a mix of excellent communication, technical skills, and business acumen. They will have the proven ability to engage with customers at different levels in the organization, from executive to developer. Previous experience with AWS is required, and you must have experience building large scale solutions. You will get the opportunity to work directly with senior engineers and business decision-makers at customers, partners, and AWS service teams, influencing their roadmaps and fostering innovation.

Roles and responsibilities
- Build and maintain technical trusted advisor relationships with influential technical decision makers and executives for the successful adoption and deployment of AWS services and technologies, in a landscape of increasing international regulatory and policy complexity.
- Collaborate with AWS account, professional services, training, Specialist SA’s, and support teams to help partners and customers learn and use AWS services such as Amazon Identity and Access Management (IAM), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Key Management System, CloudHSM, AWS Organizations, Artifact, Web Application Firewall.
- Serve as a key member of the business development and account management team in helping to ensure customer success in building, securing, and migrating applications, software and services on the AWS platform.
- Provide thought leadership on solutions that benefit customers through the use of AWS Services. Discover what motivates current business decision-making around security spending and risk taking, and craft & develop compelling audience-specific messages and tools (product videos, customer success stories, demos, whitepapers, presentations, how-to guides, etc.) Present AWS services and technologies through forums such as AWS Blogs, Whitepapers, Reference architectures and Public-Speaking events such as Executive Briefings, AWS Summits, AWS re:Invent, AWS User Groups and industry events.
- Develop, capture, and promote best-practices; participate and contribute as a member of the worldwide AWS technical community of Prototyping Engineers, Solution Architects, Professional Services Consultants, Technical Account Managers, and AWS Trainers.
- Serve as a conduit between the AWS Service teams and the customers, providing detailed guidance for the broader field organization and the customers, and acting as an advocate for the customers towards the central teams. Act as a trusted representative for the service teams and the prototyping team, in front of customers and their executives, to earn trust.
This position requires both domestic and international travel, up to 30%. Location can be MEL or SYD.
