**Role**
As an AutoCAD Engineer at Jacobi, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining a library of dynamic AutoCAD blocks used for robotic palletizing layouts and automation system designs. This role will begin with a fixed-scope project to build Jacobi’s core block library and transition into ongoing hourly work for updates, modifications, and project-specific layouts.
You’ll create parametric blocks for robot arms, conveyors, safety fencing, and other cell components following Jacobi’s established CAD standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and experienced in producing clean, organized CAD libraries for industrial or mechanical applications.
The hourly rate for this role is $10–20 USD, depending on experience and performance, with the potential for long-term ongoing work.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Develop and maintain dynamic AutoCAD blocks (stretch, flip, visibility, attributes) for:
* 6-axis robot arms (ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, UR, Doosan)
* Pallet positions, conveyors, safety fencing, EOATs, and cabinets
* Produce 2D plan and elevation drawings in metric units (millimetres)
* Follow Jacobi’s layering, title block, and CTB standards (templates provided)
* Ensure all DWG files are clean, modular, and well-organized with consistent insertion points
* Document block parameters, naming conventions, and guidelines in a README file
* Maintain quality standards using PURGE, AUDIT, and OVERKILL before delivery
* Support quick updates, new variants, and customer layout adjustments as needed
**Key Qualifications**
* Proficiency in AutoCAD 2021 or later (LT acceptable if dynamic blocks can be edited)
* Demonstrated experience creating parametric/dynamic blocks with stretch and visibility controls
* Strong understanding of layering, Xrefs, CTB plotting, and CAD organization
* Attention to detail and consistency in design documentation
* Ability to work in metric (mm) and follow structured CAD standards
* Effective communication and time management skills
* Experience with robotic or industrial layouts preferred
