As the evolution of video distribution systems continues across different domains (broadcast, OTT, linear, xVOD), it is increasingly necessary to move from distribution-centric to data-driven architectures to maximize efficiency and avoid costly single-use solutions. The Data Analyst will be a critical support resource in this space. The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing and supporting governance and oversight of Media & Broadcast Operations’ data to improve and maintain the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the data for preparation and media distribution. The Data Analyst will be a key player in a team that will work closely with business process owners, operations, and data custodians in the technology organization to ensure that data governance processes are implemented and followed for their respective subject-areas and domains.

Job Description

As Data Analyst, you will work with technology and data architects to analyze business and operational data for the use, management, and integrity of the data across its lifecycle with a focus on improving siloed approaches to data. As Data Analyst you will act as a point of accountability for content and quality of the data that is consumed, processed, and distributed. As Data Analyst, you will provide support of the change management processes for data models and data distribution channels. You will also support the governance process through tools such as data dictionaries, logical and physical lineage tracing, data issue identification and resolution, and governance workflow.

What we're looking for

  • Support research activities, PoCs, testing, test data preparation for media distribution
  • Support activities to design and develop data models for media distribution
  • Support operations data models through constant maintenance, insight gathering, and periodic evaluations
  • Interact with external and internal metadata providers, upstream business stakeholders, downstream data analysts, and architecture teams
  • Help in designing data APIs throughout the media distribution ecosystem
  • Guarantee quality of data aggregation and curation for downstream stakeholders
  • Collaborate with technical teams in support of the data flows in the playout systems
  • Support governance and oversight of Media & Broadcast Operations’ data and processes
  • Professional degree in a data-related field with an emphasis in technology applications (e.g., statistics, quantitative sciences, applied mathematics, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of Blockchain technologies, Semantic web, Ontologies
  • Ability to communicate successfully across different levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of data frameworks and technologies
  • Level and role-specific qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in applied quantitative science, data analysis, data science, statistics, applied mathematics, and related technologies (or similar field)
  • Experience in team support and cross-team communications
  • Attention to detail and ability to learn and execute tasks independently
  • General qualifications
  • Understanding of fundamentals of Blockchain and Semantic Web.
  • Understanding fundamental properties of data: Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation and Durability
  • Exposure to one of the following databases or similar: SQL server, Oracle, MySQL
  • Understanding of data management lifecycle: data generation, movement, transformation, processing/usage, archival and destruction
  • Basic understanding of data security and data sensitivity
  • Some understanding of data integration across various applications
  • Basic understanding of relational database aspects like data relationship, cardinality, and optionality
  • Understanding of simple data analysis techniques like trend analysis, time series analysis
  • Understanding of data profiling and data quality in terms of accuracy and completeness
  • Basic understanding of business data and operational data
  • Basic understanding of media metadata would be desirable but not necessary
  • Advanced skills (desirable but not indispensable)
  • Understanding of statistical analysis of data such as common algorithms for classification, association, and clustering
  • Understanding of relational databases, document databases and graph databases
  • Understanding of properties of data at rest and at motion
  • Exposure to some cloud tools for data management (any of AWS, GCP or Azure)
  • Some understanding of data modeling
  • Concepts of AI & ML

The US base salary range for this contract position is $35-$55/hour. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
