Our challenge We are seeking a skilled Data Center Migration Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and executing a large portfolio of application and database migrations from one data center to another. This role requires a thorough understanding of data center operations and technologies, along with expertise in application and database buildouts.
Additional Information The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within New York, NY is $115k - $120k/year & benefits (see below).
What we're looking for
Migration Planning & Execution: Lead the planning and execution of a comprehensive portfolio of application and database migrations from one data center to another, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services.
Application & Database Buildout: Oversee the buildout of applications and databases in the new data center environment, ensuring that all configurations and setups meet performance and security standards.
Data Center Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of data center operations, technologies, and best practices. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements that may impact migration strategies.
Technical Expertise: Possess a good understanding of general applications and databases, including but not limited to Java and .NET-based applications, RDBMS, Snowflake, DB2, and SQL Server. Provide technical guidance during migration processes.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders throughout the migration process. Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and any issues that arise, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in data center operations, application and database migration, or related fields.
Technical Skills: Strong technical background with a thorough understanding of data center technologies and architectures. Proven experience with application and database migration processes.
Application & Database Knowledge: Familiarity with Java, .NET, RDBMS, Snowflake, DB2, and SQL Server, along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve related issues.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders effectively.
Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple migration projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in large-scale data center migrations or relocations. Knowledge of cloud platforms and hybrid data center strategies. Relevant certifications in data center management or project management (e.g., PMP, ITIL) are a plus.
