About The Role We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist to join our marketing organization. In this role, you will introduce rigorous scientific methodologies into our marketing measurement and optimization processes to support Pinterest’s revenue growth and strategic marketing initiatives. Your work will directly influence key business decisions by identifying investment opportunities, understanding revenue drivers, and defining metrics to grow and sustain our advertiser base.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Analytics to solve a wide range of business problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis, with the ability to translate complex findings into strategic insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you'll work on

  • 5+ years of combined academic and industry experience applying scientific methods to solve real-world problems.
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, or engineering.
  • Hands-on experience building marketing measurement solutions to quantify the impact of marketing tactics and investments.
  • Strong background in statistics and quantitative analysis, with experience in advanced statistical techniques.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Hive, with the ability to write efficient queries.
  • Strong business and product sense, with the ability to shape vague questions into well-defined analyses and success metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of leading initiatives and presenting findings clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience leading key technical projects and a strong background in experimentation and causal inference.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve advanced marketing measurement frameworks and statistical models to quantify marketing ROI across various channels, including paid media, organic social, email, events, webinars, and e-learning platforms.
  • Build and deploy models such as propensity, forecasting, and lifetime value (LTV) models to optimize marketing strategies and improve audience targeting.
  • Develop and refine attribution methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing initiatives across multiple channels.
  • Assess the incremental impact of marketing activities using causal inference techniques and testing frameworks.
  • Conduct strategic analyses to address key business questions, including improving marketing ROI, optimizing budget allocation, and identifying growth opportunities in mature and emerging markets.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights and strategic recommendations for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Design, maintain, and promote dashboards and automated reporting tools to enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Build and optimize ETL data pipelines to automate reporting, support deep dive analysis, and facilitate feature engineering for analytical models.
