AI in Bumble Inc. Hiring
At Bumble, we may use AI tools to support parts of our recruitment process — such as helping us record, transcribe, and summarize conversations, and supporting job alignment by comparing resumes and job descriptions to highlight skills and potential roles that may be a good match. These tools help us work more efficiently and stay focused on you during our conversations. Importantly, all hiring decisions are made by people. AI is used only to support our team’s efficiency and improve the candidate experience — not to evaluate or decide on your candidacy. Participation in AI-supported interviews and conversations is completely voluntary and will not impact your candidacy. If you’d prefer to opt out, simply let your recruiter or interviewer know at the start of a call, or anytime during the interview or conversation. Summaries and related data are retained only as long as needed in line with our internal data retention policies. If at any point you’d like a transcription or summary deleted, please contact your recruiter directly.
For further information on how we hold and manage your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
What you'll work on
- Start leading in our Trust and Safety problem space. As part of this, you’ll do all the usual day-to-day line management activities: high quality 1:1s, give regular feedback, work on career development, run performance reviews, create promotion cases. You’ll learn about and be able to support people in a range of different situations and with different needs, including remote working, neurodiversity, and from different backgrounds to you. You’ll watch out for potential for bias in various forms, and proactively work to minimise potential for burnout amongst your team.
- Be accountable for the overall technical delivery in your team(s), including considering factors (and tradeoffs between) speed, tech debt, quality, non-functional requirements, and knowing how your domain contributes meaningfully to company goals.
- Actively form strong relationships and partnerships with your cross-functional leads in product, design, DS/ML, security, operations, and beyond, working together on quarterly roadmaps, headcount needs, prioritisation, processes, and overall strategy.
- Think about the future and how we can use technology as an advantage, whether through Machine Learning, technology-relation horizon scanning, commitment to research, use of third parties (build vs buy), minimising bottlenecks, fire prevention (rather than fighting), as well as looking at how you can set up your team through people-related/developer experience system and process improvements.
- Gain an understanding of our business, our customers, and the domains we work in, allowing you to use your judgement to contribute to technology-related decisions.
- Collaborate with other leaders on continuously improving our engineering culture
- Work on wider initiatives in the Engineering Manager community, whether that’s locally in Trust and Safety, or more broadly.
- Take part in hiring and other practical activities to help strengthen our overall BumbleTech team
