The opportunity:
Uphold is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Fraud Prevention team. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity where you’ll get to join a team of fraud fighters that are passionate about stopping fraud with a great sense of collaboration and responsibility.
You’ll be responsible for translating key metrics into data-driven insights that enable the fraud prevention department to optimize business processes, empower financial decisions and drive the product roadmap. You will also bring domain expertise to the table, advocating for data-driven decision-making.

What you’ll be doing primarily:
- Conduct in-depth data explorations and analysis to be consumed by senior management, team members, and department-adjacent stakeholders to enhance fraud prevention, increase acceptance rates, and improve efficiency.
- Translate business questions and objectives into concrete metrics and KPIs.
- Implement and automate dashboards and reports that feed on data to support decision-making.
- Communicate results clearly, concisely, and assertively, either orally or via well-documented resources.
- Design customized interfaces to expose internal data to key stakeholders.
- Guarantee data quality on both operational systems and offline datasets.
- Help data engineers on the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines.
- Researching competitors, adjacent markets, and current market trends to discover new business and process opportunities.
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in fraud prevention.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, economics, statistics, informatics, data science, or engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working with BI/dashboarding tools such as Looker, Metabase, Tableau, PowerBI, SiSense.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and Python.
- Good knowledge of probability and statistics.
- Experience summarizing data analyses into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.
- Experience working with data warehousing solutions in a cloud-based environment.
- Knowledge about data modeling on database management systems.
- Creativity, curiosity, and a growth mindset.
- Team player with an ability to work within cross-functional teams.
- Value and results-oriented, with a keen eye for quality of deliverables.
- Fluent written and oral English skills.
Bonus if you have:
- Fraud-related certifications.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience working with database systems such as PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
- Fluency in cryptocurrencies and other digitized financial instruments.
- Community talks, certifications, and/or blog posts on your areas of interests.
- Open-source project contributions of any kind, such as tools developed to solve specific problems you’ve had or fixing issues on existing projects.
