Role overview
Data Scientists at CookUnity are the pioneers at the intersection of technology, statistics, and business strategy. They harness the power of advanced algorithms and computational models to unravel complex patterns, predict future trends, and make data-driven recommendations. As the architects of intelligence, they go beyond surface-level analysis to probe deep into data, uncovering insights that are not immediately obvious.
With their expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data mining, our Data Scientists have the unique ability to harness CookUnity's unique datasets and turn them into innovative strategies. These strategies give CookUnity a distinctive edge, setting us apart in the marketplace. This role is the perfect blend of cutting-edge scientific techniques and practical business application.
We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist with a focus on Growth to join our team. In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our Growth team's capabilities, applying scientific rigor to inform, strategize, and optimize our already steep growth trajectory.
What you'll work on
- Structure business problems, build predictive models, and oversee the implementation into production. Your first priority will be to enable confident and effective decision-making on marketing investments. What budget and channel allocations do we need to hit our financial targets next quarter? How should we interpret past results across MTA, MMM, and Geo uplift tests to measure the performance of our Podcast host read investment?
- Partner with our growth leadership to create a data-driven framework for optimizing performance through experimentation and predictive modeling. What is the predicted lifetime value of yesterday’s Top Chef ad customer cohort? What can we learn about our eater personas to inform our next ad strategy iterations?
- Develop and implement online and offline testing and validation methodologies. What is the incrementality of Branded Search? What are appropriate control and treatment region allocations for an uplift test to avoid bias from our different kitchen performances across the US?
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of experience in data science or related fields.
- Proven experience in applying machine learning and statistics to create and expand competitive advantages and company growth. Experience in any of the following is a big plus: Growth, Attribution, Subscription, and Food industry.
- Strong Python and SQL background.
- Experience with our data stack: Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow. Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem is helpful.
- A strong understanding of advanced statistical concepts such as Bayesian statistics, multilevel and generalized linear models, markov chain attribution, time series forecasting, and lift testing. Experience using PyMC3, PyStan, or other Bayesian modeling framework is a strong plus.
- A strong understanding of web tracking and digital marketing.
- A strong understanding of various algorithms' real-world advantages and drawbacks and the ability to measure success.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex analyses to non-technical stakeholders.
- MS or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Sociology, Natural Sciences, or any equivalent field is helpful.
