Role overview
Faction Imaging is searching for a Machine Learning Research and Development Engineer to be responsible for the development of algorithms related to perception and image guided navigation. You will be involved in architecture development and in software engineering. We are looking for an out-of-the-box thinker and experienced software engineer to apply their background in perception and autonomous navigation to medical imaging.
**Desired Qualifications:**
* A bachelors degree in computer science, robotics or a related field is required
* PhD or MSc in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred
* Minimum of 8 years experience in industry or 6 years for candidates with a PhD
* Experience developing image analysis algorithms (e.g. classification, segmentation, object detection and localization) using various ML architectures including Convolutional Neural Networks and Vision Transformers
* Experience developing algorithms for navigation using techniques such as imitation learning, reinforcement learning, mapping, search and optimization techniques
* Adept software engineer with experience developing software in python using image processing and machine learning libraries such as PyTorch
* Extensive experience using C++ to develop production level code for robotic systems
**What the job will entail:**
* Development of multiple search and navigation architectures with input from Faction’s subject matter experts and in collaboration with machine learning engineers, biomedical engineers and robotics controls engineers
* Development and testing of python and C++ software to implement search algorithms, navigation algorithms and other types of optimization algorithms
* Collaboration with other engineers to integrate algorithms with the complete control stack
* Real world deployment of software: for development, validation and demonstrations
