Role overview
What we do
Our mission at Corsali is to build a data ecosystem that advances the common good, cultivates community, and embraces everyone. We are a team of mission driven builders - engineers, creatives, economists, and entrepreneurs - that got started out of the MIT Media Lab.
We are backed by top investors (Polychain Capital, Tribe Capital, Abstract Ventures, Casey Neistat, Sep Kamvar, and more) and are looking for values-aligned individuals to join our founding team.
The problem
Today’s data economy works like a serfdom. The value of user data is captured by large tech monopolies rather than by the individuals who created the data. Individuals know their data is being stolen but do not know what to do about it. At the same time, it is difficult for any company other than a large tech monopoly to apply machine learning as they don’t have access to the right data - from identifying the right mental health treatment to helping someone be matched with their life partner. This leads to compounding wealth inequality as our economy has not been designed to accommodate the strange exponentials of data.
We’re building tools to fix this. Our first product is Vana, a consumer data wallet, making personal data portable rather than siloed within large tech monopolies. Consumers use Vana to securely export personal data, earn interest on their data capital, and access the future value of their data. They decide what parts of their digital self to share, who to share it with, and how much they want for it. Our enterprise customers, from Fortune 500 fashion companies to health tech startups, rent data directly from consumers to make behavioral predictions, transferring value usually captured by a tech monopoly directly to the consumer.
The opportunity
We are building a world-class founding team. As one of our early Corsali engineers, you’ll help drive our technical decisions and influence our product direction for years to come, with the goal of empowering individual freedom through tools for data ownership.
Example responsibilities
- Work closely with our cofounders and head of engineering on our technical roadmap for all web3-related work
- Implement features and build systems to allow our users to monetize their personal data securely
- Keep up with developments in web3 as opportunities for new integrations or protocols to build on or bridge to
- Collaborate with other engineers via code reviews to level up yourself and others, to improve your ability to provide effective feedback, and to achieve higher quality code
To build technology and products that are used and loved by people and solve real-world problems, we need to build a team with many different perspectives and experiences. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We want to know your unique story and we encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
