About the Team
Fanatics is first and foremost a technology company. As the global leader in licensed sports merchandise, we challenge ourselves by improving our new fully responsive NodeJS cloud commerce platform, Elasticsearch engine, and deep data science capabilities while building the best-in-class retail manufacturing and supply chain technologies. Our tech teams work together to revolutionize data science and engineering initiatives, provide highly scalable real-time and streaming platforms, and create secure e-commerce and in-stadium fan experience products. Role Purpose
We have number of 6 week summer, global internships available in our engineering teams based in Manchester. Opportunity to work with teams across the globe and benefit from structured development plan whilst supporting local team with their engineering goals.
What you'll work on
● Develop new products and solutions. ● Troubleshoot, debug and enhance existing Fanatics products, systems and platforms. ● Participate in agile ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, etc. ● Provide input and assistance to quality engineers; to ensure the delivery of well tested and high- quality solutions. ● Work closely with business analysts and product managers to understand, validate and refine business requirements. ● Participate in appropriate meetings with stakeholders, either physically or over video conferencing. ● Use guided and self-development to learn and improve skills inline with assigned milestones.
Skills and Experience
● A computer science related degree. ● An understanding of how to write, debug and test software. ● An aptitude for structured problem solving. ● An interest in working with new languages and technologies. ● Some experience of working in a collaborative team environment. ● Reliable, self-organising, enthusiastic and motivated. ● Good verbal and written skills. ● Open attitude to sharing ideas, knowledge and information. ● Able to take feedback positively to order to self improve. ● Familiarity with the software development lifecycle. ● Ability to be able to code in at least one programming language. ● Understanding of object orientated development. ● Experience with some development tools. ● Knowledge of relational databases. ● Git or a similar distributed version control system. Ideal ● Knowledge of agile development processes and software engineering principles. ● Demonstrate a real interest in development by working on their own programming projects or had relevant work experience
