Role overview
The importance of scaling Ethereum cannot be overstated. As a result, we have seen the advent of “Layer 2” protocols that are expected to reduce transaction costs on Ethereum while maintaining its security guarantees. Layer 2 solutions require a multi-network approach to developer tooling, and require blockchain developers to reconsider how we shape the developer and user experience on the decentralized web.
This role is an opportunity to be at the forefront of Ethereum scaling. You will leverage deep software development experience to integrate various Layer 2 technologies into existing Truffle tooling.
A sampling of what you can expect to do in this role:
- You will become a subject-matter expert on Ethereum scaling with Layer 2 protocols and report your findings to the broader team.
- You will build sample projects using Truffle’s tool suite to showcase the ways in which our existing tooling is compatible with the Layer 2 ecosystem.
- You will note the technical requirements of various Layer 2 ecosystems and propose changes to Truffle’s infrastructure that will ensure seamless integration.
- You will make changes to the Truffle suite of tools in collaboration with other developers on the team.
- You will design and implement new tooling to meet emerging developer needs.
What we're looking for
- Blockchain development
- TypeScript
- The core constructs of decentralized systems (consensus algorithms, cryptography, world state, trust, etc.)
- Specifics of current Layer 2 protocols and their role in the Ethereum ecosystem
- Ethereum Virtual Machine
- Formal schemas (e.g. JSON Schema)
- Documentation generators
- Graph databases
- Managing and interacting with an open source developer community
