At Soluna, we are using computing to accelerate a future where renewable energy is the primary source of energy in the world.

Most renewable power plant operators struggle to sell all of the energy they generate. We build small-footprint data centers to buy & use all of their wasted energy. So they earn profits & tax credits for every megawatt they produce.
Our specialized data centers run computing-intensive applications powered by clean energy for: Cryptocurrency Mining • Artificial Intelligence • Deep Learning • Machine Learning • Scientific Computing • Natural Language Processing • Video Transcoding and more.

What you'll work on
Our ideal VP of Operations with experience in data center management and a passion for blockchain mining will be an integral contributor to the next generation of our business. You'll be working on the development and build out of several data center projects and defining how they operate in partnership with the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Power Officer. The VP of Operations is a highly skilled and experienced operational manager, strategic thought partner and leader of business strategy implementation. The VP of Operations will play a critical role in the refinement, design and integration of cross-team systems and processes to ensure business alignment and increased operational efficiency. Reporting to the CEO, this role will develop and maintain control of all business operations and will be an experienced and efficient leader with excellent people skills, business acumen, and an exemplary work ethic.
You will:
- Execute the business plan, achieving or exceeding established P&L objectives
- Program manage Soluna data center construction sites and EPC
- Provide operational leadership for internal and external stakeholders by implementing, documenting and evolving standard operating procedures
- Manage Operations for Soluna’s site portfolio
- Identify areas of opportunities for capital improvements across the organization,
including opportunities to improve revenue, increase margin, reduce cost, and
increase profitability throughout the organization, all while improving efficiency
- Cultivate and manage healthy relationships with strategic partners and vendors
- Ensure existing, as well as new partnerships, programs and initiatives, are in line with Soluna’s core values
- Evaluate operational performance by analyzing data and creating KPI metrics and reporting, working closely with CFO and CTO. Leverage financial data to drive key operational decisions
- Oversee data center operations annual budgeting and audit
- Manage/mitigate the data center safety and legal risk and govern all compliance related issues
- Drive contingency planning, ensuring organization can manage unexpected financial situations, market shifts and periods of both growth and contraction
- Provide leadership for inventory management, shipping and quality control activities
- Motivate, lead and hold accountable a high performing team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the operational team, including general management of data centers; provide mentoring for management development and succession planning as a leader.
- Work closely with leadership peers to propose and implement performance optimizations and scaling strategies
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- Proven results as an operational leader in a power or data center management organization, or a similarly relevant role
- Experience building high performing teams, including the ability to recognize and cultivate rising talent
- Ability to transition seamlessly from a strategic visionary level to daily tactical operations
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and organizational leadership skills
- Varied experiences and responsibilities in Operations, Finance, and leadership
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; advanced degree, MBA or similar, a plus
