THE AI SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST ROLE

The AI Senior Data Scientist is a key member of the Consulting team, leading the development of AI solutions that enhance and augment the team’s knowledge and capabilities, as well as improve project efficiency. The position also serves as the primary technical reference for AI-related topics within the practice.

The role will be part of the Market Access and Pricing area of expertise within Alira Health, working very closely with the rest of the team, supporting consulting activities in Pharma, Medtech, Diagnostic, and Digital Health worldwide.

This role involves translating business requirements into technical specifications and managing the design and development of internal and external tools and solutions based on ML/Generative AI and analytics.

This role is accountable for solution design and hands-on technical execution and is a key contributor to our AI roadmap, including feasibility assessment, iterative prototyping, and scale-up readiness.

What we're looking for

  1. AI Solution Design & Implementation
  • Translate business questions in market access and pricing into scalable AI and analytics solutions
  • Design and implement AI systems, including LLM-based applications, AI agents, and structured data pipelines
  • Ensure solutions are production-ready, documented, and reproducible
  • Apply strong governance and validation standards suitable for healthcare environments
  • Support deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of developed tools
  • Partner within corporate working groups and AI Committee review cycles to ensure cross-unit alignment before consolidation and planning
  1. Consulting Support & Technical Leadership
  • Act as an AI subject matter expert on selected client engagements
  • Advise consulting teams on feasibility, technical trade-offs, and solution design
  • Support AI-enabled proposal development when relevant
  • Contribute to the development of reusable internal tools and accelerators
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  1. Internal Capability Development
  • Mentor and develop junior data scientists
  • Promote best practices in coding, validation, and deployment
  • Contribute to the structured adoption of AI tools within the practice

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

DESIRED BACKGROUND

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or related STEM field
  • Experience (academic or professional) in healthcare, life sciences, pharma, or MedTech preferred
  • Exposure to consulting environments is a strong plus

TECHNICAL COMPETENCES & SOFT SKILLS

  • Programming and data query languages (e.g., Python and SQL)
  • ML frameworks and standard libraries
  • LLM integration and orchestration
  • Version control, testing, code review discipline
  • Understanding of MLOps concepts and controlled deployment
  • Good interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Collaborative, cross-functional working style
  • Strong ownership and delivery reliability in a client-oriented environment
  • Advanced business English proficiency (written and verbal). Additional languages are a plus.
