Role overview
As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead a team of software engineers building products and capabilities that strengthen WithSecure’s cybersecurity offering. You’ll combine strong people leadership with technical understanding and business-minded decision-making. You’ll create an environment where engineers can do their best work—high quality, sustainable pace, and continuous improvement—while helping the organization adopt modern technologies, including generative AI, in a responsible and impactful way.
You will foster an inclusive culture where every voice is valued, guide individuals and the team through change, and act as a bridge between leadership and engineering execution.
What you'll work on
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of software engineers, promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
- Drive the adoption of modern technologies and best practices in generative AI.
- Lead and develop your team – conduct regular 1:1s, monitor team well-being, and support career growth through mentoring and coaching.
- Drive change and adoption – introduce new working methods, observe team dynamics, and guide individuals through transformation with a hands-on approach.
- Resolve conflicts – address interpersonal challenges both within the team and across organizational boundaries.
- Maintain a strong internal and external network, knowing who to contact for specific matters and where to route issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally – work closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Project Managers to align technical and business priorities.
- Be the bridge between leadership and the team – represent company vision, ensure communication lands effectively, and clarify strategic messages.
- Recruit and onboard – participate in hiring processes and ensure smooth onboarding of new team members.
- Drive organizational initiatives – contribute to company-wide and unit-level initiatives, collaborating within the management team.
- Navigate technical-business trade-offs – make informed decisions balancing technical constraints with business needs.
- Stay technically informed – understand code architecture, participate in technical discussions, and keep up with industry trends.
- Handle incidents and postmortems – be involved in incident response and contribute to continuous improvement through retrospective analysis.
- Monitor metrics and market – track team and product metrics, stay aware of competitor activities and industry developments.
