The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team is seeking a high energy engineer with hands-on experience in developing AI/ML software in support of the AI Consulting team. In this role you will be part of the larger AI Foundations organization consisting of colleagues possessing varying skill sets including AI/Machine Learning specialists, front-end and back-end developers, data engineers, product managers, and other data scientists. The selected candidate will focus on the AI Consulting team, but will be included as part of a broader range of projects across the LAIC portfolio. The AI Consulting team is focused on employing small, innovative, and agile teams to rapidly iterate and mature solutions from prototypes to deployment for utilization across the Lockheed Martin enterprise.
The LAIC AI Consulting Team's mission includes serving as a center of excellence for AI at Lockheed Martin. The candidate will work to disseminate best practices of the AI Consulting team to other AI and data science teams in the corporation. The candidate will be required to create knowledge materials to publish these best practices, as well as meet with other data science leaders in Lockheed Martin to teach and discuss these practices.
The responsibilities of this position include collaboration with business stakeholders to identify business opportunities and requirements to develop associated statistical models that deliver useful, actionable recommendations, or which augment human capabilities in various work settings. The candidate is responsible for modeling complex business and engineering problems, discovering insights and deploying AI capabilities using machine learning and associated feature engineering techniques. Responsibilities also include tracking projects and driving work on them through to completion, as well as implementing best technical practices from the fields of machine learning and software engineering.
The candidate will need a combination of business focus, creative thinking, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and programming knowledge to be able to quickly cycle hypotheses through the discovery phase of the project. Excellent communications skills to understand the needs of the business, and to communicate the value of the models built back to the business. Domestic travel may be required for team meetings and per business needs (approx. 10%).
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer

Science from an accredited college in a related
discipline, or equivalent experience, with 2 years
of professional experience; or a related Master's
degree

Previous experience building machine learning

models by way of work, projects, courses, etc.

Experience with developing software and

software engineering best practices, specifically python.

Must have strong problem-solving skills,

business acumen, and demonstrated excellent
oral and written communication skills.

Must be a US citizen

Desired Skills:

Experience with natural language processing techniques
Experience in applying deep learning, especially CNNs, RNNS, LSTMs, and reinforcement learning
Experience with integration of data products into customer applications.
Experience with or knowledge of data engineering.
Experience with or knowledge of AWS.
Experience in manufacturing and/or engineering processes.
Story-telling and data visualization.
Experience with UI/UX and/or human-machine interaction.
Experience with SQL

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $102,700 - $177,905. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
