Role overview
Macrobond is building a dedicated AI capability to accelerate the development of AI-native products and workflows.AI Engineering will play a central role in building core capabilities that power Macrobond’s next generation of AI products, including semantic search, knowledge systems, and AI-assisted research workflows. This includes developing macroeconomic tools to support both the production of insights and the consumption of those insights across Macrobond platforms.
The role focuses on building reliable, scalable AI systems that combine economic data, structured metadata, and modern AI models to enable faster discovery, analysis, and decision-making.
*Job Responsibilities:
Retrieval and Search Systems**
- Build and maintain data layers that support hybrid retrieval architectures combining vector, keyword, and structured search
- Design retrieval strategies to enable efficient search across large economic datasets and research content
- Develop and optimise embedding pipelines, indexing strategies, and ranking approaches for high-quality retrieval Implement evaluation frameworks to measure retrieval quality, relevance, and system performance
What we're looking for
- Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, or equivalent fields (e.g. Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence)
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern AI frameworks (e.g. Lang Chain, Lang Graph)
- Solid understanding of LLMs, embedding models, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems
- Experience with search systems, vector databases, and hybrid retrieval architectures
- Familiarity with data modelling, metadata systems, or knowledge graphs
- Experience building and deploying AI systems in production environment Ability to work effectively with real users and evolving product requirements
