Position Summary:**
The Musculoskeletal Digital Innovation and Informatics Program (https://www.musculoskeletal.ai/) at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School has an immediate opening for a motivated Biomedical Informatics Research Data Scientist to work with a multidisciplinary team of biomedical engineers, orthopedic surgeons, and computer and data scientists to contribute to development of data pipelines to process electronic medical records to assist with clinical care, research and operation. This opportunity is primarily focused on translational research with immediate impact on clinical care of patients with a range of musculoskeletal conditions, through publication of novel findings and development of computational tools used by clinicians.
What you'll work on
- Work closely with the team to create data processing pipelines and fulfill requests using a variety of database and analytic technologies.
- Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to gather and process data from electronic medical records.
- Participate in discussions with clinicians, researchers, and administrators to identify and refine project requirements.
- Collaborate with other data engineers on tools, languages, and code/process improvements, including code reviews.
- Produce and maintain documentation on processes, database models, and project workflows.
What we're looking for
- Expertise in Python programming
- Expertise in SQL and database querying
- Familiarity with healthcare datasets or electronic medical records.
- Experience in the use of large language models and their applications
- Knowledge of machine learning, statistical methods, and NLP.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Motivation to tackle challenging problems and learn continuously
