Role overview
Belle.ai is hiring an AI Team Lead to lead a small, high-impact team, building AI for skin aesthetics—including (but not limited to) acne, melasma (hyperpigmentation), wrinkles, redness and hair. You’ll take what we’ve already built and level it up: improving accuracy, robustness, and scalability, while shipping new features into production.
You’ll work in a young, energetic team with an international environment (France, Vietnam & US), and you’ll have opportunities to visit and work with teams at other branches, as well as attend top AI conferences, especially those focused on AI in healthcare.
Location: Toulouse, France
Compensation:
- Base salary: €45,000 - €55,000 gross/year (depending on experience) + performance bonus up to 19% annual salary.
- Equity: stock/options package (based on level and performance)
- Sign-on bonus: available for strong candidates (case-by-case)
What you’ll lead & build
This team focuses on Computer Vision + modern AI, including:
- Classification / Detection / Segmentation
- Generative AI
- LLMs (LLM-assisted workflows, evaluation, data tooling)
You will continue developing and improving existing systems—not starting from scratch.
What we're looking for
- Lead a small AI team: technical direction, planning, prioritization, mentoring, delivery ownership
- Develop and implement ML algorithms: create, train, and deploy models for real product needs
- Data analysis and modelling: work with large datasets (data discovery, cleaning, labelling strategy, making data model-ready)
- Statistical analysis & error estimation: validate that models meet accuracy requirements using robust evaluation methods
- Learning from feedback: systematically improve AI performance using feedback loops (user, expert, and/or system feedback)
- Rapid prototyping to production: build prototypes to test performance (e.g., Streamlit demos), then deliver production-ready code (including APIs as needed)
- Stay up to date with SOTA: track relevant research and competing technologies, and apply what works in practice
- Collaboration & communication: work closely with other teams and stakeholders in an international setup
- Research & innovation: explore new ML technologies, propose improvements, and integrate them into existing systems
- Documentation: write technical documentation and project reports (and papers if needed)
- Work following standards: contribute to development aligned with quality/safety standards such as IEC 62304, IEC 60601-4-5, ISO 14971, ISO 13485 (as applicable)
- 4+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning / Deep Learning (strongly preferred: Computer Vision)
- Strong knowledge of CV algorithms (classification, detection, segmentation) and modern deep learning methods
- Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with standard ML/DL libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, OpenCV, PyTorch/TensorFlow)
- Experience delivering models into real products: training → evaluation → deployment → iteration
- High integrity, positive attitude, strong ownership and responsibility
- Passion & creativity: energetic, self-driven, loves experimenting and building
- Strong problem-solving ability, collaborative team spirit
- Ability to learn new concepts/tools quickly; can multitask and prioritize effectively
- Professional English required
- Experience in skin / medical / aesthetics AI is a strong plus
- PhD in a related field is a plus
