Job Description
Animal Health IT Data Science and AI team is looking for a Data Scientist. Our team supports company's Animal Health business areas – research and development, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, and animal monitoring – through data science and AI delivery. This role allows you to work on impactful data science products and collaborate with other data scientists and AI engineers, building a community that learns, challenges, and inspires each other. Our team is shaping the AH Data Science and AI strategy, serves as a DS and AI community facilitator and helps non-technical colleagues to mature their understanding of DS and AI.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Select appropriate analytical techniques and algorithms to best solve business challenges.
- Participate in choosing right tools infrastructure for data science projects.
- Write efficient and maintainable code following best practices in software engineering to implement data science algorithms.
- Provide precise and timely communication (both verbal and written) & collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
- Understand the context behind business decisions .
- Develop analytical models and data science solutions in R/Python, leveraging advanced techniques including simulations, optimization, and machine learning.
- Assess the output of analytical solution and interpret data to draw conclusions, identify options, and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain knowledge on the data sources, the data quality and metadata.
- Recognize repeatable situations and suggest the appropriate level of automation of analytics.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- 2+ years of experience in Data Science or PhD.
- Passion for advanced algorithms and good quality code.
- Strong programming skills in R and/or Python.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to make high-level presentations to senior executives.
- Extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas: mathematical analysis and modelling, probability, stochastic processes, econometrics, machine learning, optimization, simulations, software development.
- The ability to formulate models, analyze them, program, and run in some appropriate system.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work with incomplete or imperfect data, including ability to interpret and use the analytics results within the real business context.
- Experience with version controls systems and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, Jira).
- Experience and/or ability to quickly learn new tools (e.g., Databricks).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a global team.
Education Requirement:
MSc or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics or other related field.
