As a data scientist in the Data Management and Analytics Center of Excellence (CoD), you will design, develop, and program methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze diverse data sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services and product enhancement.   • Develop viable analytics algorithms and models in support of the Chief Technology Office’s Data Management and Analytics Center of Excellence strategic goals and objectives.
  • Identify meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources.
  • Interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.
  • Perform a product engineering role by working with multiple types of business data.
  • Assist in developing technical solutions as part of proposal development.
  • Keep abreast of leading edge approaches to complex challenges and collaborate with research and development teams on innovative methods.
  • Participate as a key technical contributor in support of customer-facing projects requiring data science and engineering skills and expertise.

What we're looking for

  • Expertise in data preparation for analytical modeling.
  • Expertise using python, R, scala, or other programming languages and data science toolsets.
  • Expertise developing viable algorithms to generate analytical insights and data visualization techniques to present findings.
  • A confident, self-directed, credible technology professional with drive and energy.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience developing and delivering effective solutions in the following areas
  • 2-3 years of experience and demonstrated success in supporting one or more data science project for government customer(s).
  • Able to articulate ideas concisely in an interactive and facilitative environment within Octo and our customers.
  • Able to build effective working relationships based on trust, integrity, and the best interests of the company and navigate in a growing company environment.
  • A change agent who can engage in constructive conflict and influence thinking and actions but do it in a positive manner that benefits and strengthens the organization.
  • Able to put positive stress on an organization to effect needed change and improvements.
  • Possesses high ethical and business standards.
Years of Experience: 4+ years of experience with minimum of 2 years in the data science field.Education: Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.Location: Virtual, work from home allowed.
