Staff Data Scientist Location
Remote Position.
What you'll work on
Lead technical initiatives to improve and automate model development workflows. Drive fraud detection strategies and implement advanced analytics solutions. Apply computer vision techniques for identity verification and image-based data challenges. Mentor junior team members and guide analysts transitioning into data science roles. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data science efforts with product goals. Contribute to long-term growth of the data science function.
Core Qualifications
Proven experience in fraud analytics and detection. Hands-on expertise with computer vision applications. Ability to learn and adapt to new technical stacks quickly. Strong communication skills for influencing product decisions. Demonstrated empathy, self-awareness, and openness to feedback. Experience mentoring and fostering team development.
Role Level & Team Structure
Senior individual contributor (staff or principal level). Work alongside a mix of data scientists, engineers, and analysts in a mature but expanding data science team.
What You’ll Do
* Design and implement sophisticated machine learning systems aimed at detecting and preventing fraudulent activity.
* Lead innovation by applying advanced AI techniques, including graph analytics and computer vision, to complex data challenges.
* Mentor and coach engineers and data scientists, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
* Work closely with product and engineering leadership to guide architectural decisions and technical strategy.
* Oversee the end-to-end data science process—from initial design through deployment, monitoring, and refinement.
* Translate intricate business requirements into scalable, production-ready AI solutions.
What You Bring
* Over a decade of experience in data science, with deep expertise in fraud detection and large-scale data environments.
* Proven ability to deliver and maintain high-performing machine learning models in production settings.
* Advanced programming skills in Python, R, or Scala, along with strong knowledge of ML frameworks and libraries.
* Thorough understanding of statistical modeling, data mining, and performance debugging.
* Outstanding communication and leadership skills to influence and align cross-functional teams.
* Bonus: Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, NoSQL technologies, and graph-based fraud detection approaches.
