Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. RTI International is an independent, scientific research institute dedicated to improving the human condition. They are seeking an AI Research Leader to develop and apply AI advancements in energy, environment, and natural resources, addressing key challenges and unlocking new opportunities. The role involves strategic leadership in research projects, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring staff.
What you'll work on
Skills • PhD with at least 8 years of experience with the application of data sciences, AI, and advanced modeling in the energy/environment space. An equivalent of a Master's degree with 12 years of experience or Bachelor's degree with 15 years of experience may be substituted for a PhD. • Track record of successfully leading complex projects and multidisciplinary functional teams. • Well versed in R and/or Python, common development and run environments, and common database software. • Record of contributions to the field. • High level of initiative, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and creativity. Must have a learning and growth mindset. • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including negotiation. Strong listening skills. • Ability to build trust and consensus across a wide range of audiences. • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status, etc.) • NLP and Generative AI experience. • Experience with a wide range of data types (e.g., real world evidence, geospatial data, biometric data) and project types. • Peer-reviewed journal articles, patents, and conference proceedings. • Record of obtaining external funding and successful business development preferred. • Significant record of mentoring and developing staff.
