Role overview

As a Research Scientist, you'll setup large-scale tests and deploy promising ideas quickly and broadly, managing deadlines and deliverables while applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies. From creating experiments and prototyping implementations to designing new architectures, our research scientists work on real-world problems that span the breadth of computer science, such as machine (and deep) learning, data mining, natural language processing, hardware and software performance analysis, improving compilers for mobile platforms, as well as core search and much more.

As a Research Scientist, you'll also actively contribute to the wider research community by sharing and publishing your findings, with ideas inspired by internal projects as well as from collaborations with research programs at partner universities and technical institutes all over the world.

What you'll work on

  • Develop innovative machine learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques in the directions that are of high impact to the organization, push the important scenarios, and publish outcomes at conferences and journals.
  • Collaborate with Google product teams and other stakeholders to address customer needs and realize the business impact of research breakthroughs via Google AI products.
  • Invent and implement generalizable methods that perform at scale and across various real-world AI issues of enterprises.
  • Engage with and learn from talented researchers and engineers across Google. Own a major research agenda consisting of multiple high-impact projects, a critical piece of a new product, or multiple existing products within Google.
  • Influence long-term product and research strategies by shaping technical decisions.

What we're looking for

  • 4 years of experience leading multiple research efforts and influencing research direction.
  • 2 years of coding experience.
  • Experience leading multiple workstreams to advance new initiatives and research directions.
  • Experience serving as a domain expert for a critical part of research growth by research trends and best practices within the community.
  • Experience amplifying research influence through publications, presentations, and collaborations, and shaping external research practices.
  • Ability to apply technical to pioneer new concepts that advance the or open novel areas of inquiry.
