Bio
Andre Aila Owano is a blockchain innovator and tech entrepreneur with a passion for building decentralized solutions that solve real-world challenges. As the founder of MaishaCare, I’m leading the charge on a blockchain-based healthcare data marketplace that puts patients in control of their data. This project leverages Solidity, smart contracts, and the Lisk blockchain to create a secure, transparent decentralized application (dApp) where individuals own their health data and earn token-based incentives for sharing it—a true embodiment of Web3 principles like data sovereignty and innovative economic models. My technical toolkit includes blockchain technologies such as DAOs, cryptography, Solidity, and smart contract development, alongside proficiency in Python, Rust, and JavaScript—skills I’ve applied to build robust, decentralized systems. With a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems and training in mobile software development and entrepreneurship, I bring a strong educational foundation to the table. My experience as a DevOps Engineering Intern at Safaricom sharpened my ability to manage high-stakes technical environments, while leading MaishaCare has honed my skills in digital transformation, guiding cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions. Beyond technical contributions, I’m deeply committed to enhancing user experiences and cultivating strong team dynamics. My background in customer success and support, alongside my leadership in people and culture initiatives at MaishaCare, has equipped me with the empathy, communication, and collaboration skills needed to boost product adoption and foster team cohesion. I thrive in roles that merge technology with human-centered design. I’m seeking diverse opportunities in the Web3 ecosystem that tap into my broad skill set. On the technical side, I’m eager to explore research, prompt engineering, and project/product management roles, where I can innovate at the nexus of blockchain, AI, and user needs. On the non-technical side, I’m drawn to customer success, customer support, and people & culture roles, where I can build thriving communities, support users, and empower teams. I’m open to remote or hybrid positions, whether full-time or contract, and I’m excited to contribute to projects that champion decentralization, and data ownership. My foundation includes a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems, supplemented by training in mobile software development and entrepreneurship. My stint as a DevOps Engineering Intern at Safaricom honed my ability to manage high-stakes technical environments, while leading MaishaCare has sharpened my expertise in digital transformation and team leadership. Winning the Based Around the World - Africa Buildathon underscores my capacity to innovate at the intersection of technology and business. I’m enthusiastic about driving Web3 adoption alongside a team that shares my passion for crafting impactful, user-centric solutions.
