Our client is a a YC-backed startup that just raised $2.8M to automate patent infringement detection.
Patent enforcement is a billion-dollar industry still running on spreadsheets , they are the first team actually solving it with AI.
Tasks
- Design and deploy ML systems that map patent claim language to real-world product evidence at scale.
- Build and iterate on agentic NLP pipelines that interpret claims, identify infringing elements, and produce structured evidence with citations.
- Own the full ML lifecycle: experiment, evaluate, ship, monitor, fix.
- Work directly with the founding team to shape technical direction and decide what gets built next.
What we're looking for
- Proven track record shipping production ML systems not demos, not research, things that ran in prod and had users.
- Strong hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic workflows.
- Solid Python and comfort with large-scale search infrastructure (Elasticsearch or similar).
- Good judgment on when to use a simple model vs. when to go deeper.
- Experience with NLP on dense structured text is a strong plus.
